Parvez’s ton goes waste as J&K loses by 7-wkt in Ranji | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, December 04: Maiden ton by all-rounder Parvez Rasool gone waste after Andhra Pradesh registered a seven-wicket win over Jammu and Kashmir in the Ranji Trophy Plate Group-B league tie played at GGM Science College Hostel ground, here today. Needing 130 runs to win with complete two sessions of play remaining on the fourth day, Andhra though faced tough moments yet clinched the win achieving the target in 34.3 overs for the loss of three wickets in the post tea session. With today’s win, Andhra secured full five points. At one point of time, Andhra looked under pressure at 67 for three in 21 overs. However, two boundaries on consecutive balls to debutant, Rahil Singh Sambyal helped Y Venugopal Rao and B Sumanth turned the tables around. Thereafter both these batsmen added quick runs to make the win easy attaining the goal in 34.3 overs with seven wickets in hand. While Venugopal made unbeaten 54 studded with eight boundaries and two sixes, Sumanth scored 34 with the help of a six and six hits to the fence. Earlier, J&K managed a respectable second innings total of 252 runs, courtesy brilliant innings played by young cricketers, Parvez Rasool and Aditya Pratap Singh. Resuming from overnight score of 153 for five wickets, both Parvez and Aditya kept the scoreboard moving hitting confident shots. However, Aditya’s innings were cut short when bowled by Vijay Kumar at 54. He was instrumental in a record 144 runs sixth wicket stand with Parvez Rasool. Parvez, who was later supported by Raman Dutta in his endeavour to make career’s best, completed his century scoring 109 runs off 195 balls hitting two sixes and 16 boundaries. Raman contributed 21 runs with the help of six and three boundaries.
