| 25 Shia organizations hold meet with Poonch administration | | Jan issues directions to DDC to complete Muharram arrangements | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
Rajouri, Dec 4: Atleast 25 Shia organizations of Poonch today held meeting with all district officers to give final nod to the Muharram arrangements starting from December 6.
Various issues regarding the programmes were discussed in the meeting.
Member Legislative Assmebly Poonch, Ajaz Ahmed Jan presided over the meeting who issued necessary directions to Deputy Commissioner and other district officers to make proper arrangements for the people in the month of Muharram.
In the meeting representatives of Shia community highlighted various issues related to water, electricity, medicines and security arrangements which were discussed by the MLA with the concerned officers.
Jan also passed direction to Public Health Engineering Department Executive Engineer to ensure proper supply of water during the month.
Assuring Shia community representatives, Jan said that he will request Chief Minister Omar Abdullah for uninterrupted power supply during the month besides will also discuss the matter of additional quota of ration to the people with Minister for Consumer Affairs and Public Distribution.
He said that he will request the minister to provide additional quota of ration to the people of Poonch in this holy month.
Meanwhile Jan has passed direction to Fire Service officers to ensure installation of fire brigade at various places during Muhharam so that to avoid any untoward incident.
He also directed health authorities to depute a doctor, para-medical staff and an ambulance with the Muhahram procession in order to provide first aid to processionists.
The administration has assured MLA that all the arrangements will be finalized within time and people will not face any problem during the month.
Shia community representatives have also lauded the role of MLA for arranging such meeting with the district officers. They said that this reflect the leadership qualities of Ajaz Jan.
