| Sheep and wool workers association to hold protest | | | JAMMU NOV-04- All Jammu and Kashmir Sheep and Wool Workers Association has decided to hold a massive protest dharna on November 22 against the un-justified Government proposal to grant drawing and disbursing powers to Veterinary Assistant Surgeons and designating them as Block Veterinary Officers.
Mohammed Gafoor Dar State President of the Association announced the decision at a press conference here today. He said the decision to organize dharna has been taken at an emergency meeting of the executive body of the Association at Jammu and Srinagar.
‘Saying that the proposal was against the interests of the employees’, Gafoor said ‘ it would create a lot of problems for the non-gazetted field staff of the Department adding that this proposal of the government would prove suicidal’. The government should have taken the views of 6,000 non-gazetted employees of the department into consideration before considering any such proposal.
Gafoor observed that instead of solving the genuine demands of the employees including removal of pay anomalies and grant of two and a half days salary for extra work, the Government has come up with such a proposal detrimental to the interests of the employees.
He said that a massive demonstration followed by a dharna would be organized on November 22 outside Directors office at Jammu and Kashmir and warned to go on an indefinite strike if the proposal was not withdrawn till this date
Abdul Majid, Mohammed Anwar, Ravinder Singh, Om Prakash and Shams-ud-Din were also present at the press conference.
