EARLY TIMES REPORT
Jammu, Dec 4: Tanya Gupta, fresh after her incredible performance at 16th Asian Games held in Guangzhou is all praise for her country and state for having represented it in China and brought home thunderous accolades.
The singing sensation from Jammu rocked the land of dragons with her melodious voice by presenting ‘Saajan Ji Ghar Aaye’ from the 1998 Karan Johar’s Bollywood hit Kuch Kuch Hota Hai along with Ravi Tripathi who partnered her in the mega event that came to grandeur close on November 27th.
“ It was a great honor for me to sing a Indian presentation at china as nearly 1500 people foot tapped along with both of us and entire crowd rose to a standing ovation in the stadiums,” said Tanya adding that the opportunity having come her way is likely to open more vistas for her in near future.
“ I am looking forward to a 2014 event in South Korea where I am hoping to be roped in for a presentation also,” said an apparently excited Tanya while sharing her experiences with the media persons.
Gupta however was little bit dissatisfied over the selection of song by the organizers on closing ceremony. “Though we had prepared for A R Rahman’s super hit, ‘Jai Ho from Slumdog Millionaire and couple of more dazzling songs to sing, the Chinese organisers had prepared a different format in which 1400 to 1500 performers were to participate and hence we had to change the strategy last minute,” remarked Tanya.
She disclosed that the final performance had some Chinese notes too included into it which could not be changed at the last moment.
“We were surprised (Tanya and her partner in the performance, Ravi Tripathi) over the change of song for the performance. It left us denying a chance to interact with the media and people there and we could not convey our views over J&K,” she maintained.
The singer maintained that some of her friends in China had expressed their desire to visit Jammu and Kashmir having known the land as another ‘Switzerland’ on the earth.
“We have also planned to organize a mega event in Jammu after December 20 in which my partner in China, Ravi Tripathi will also perform,” she remarked.
Tanya was quite hopeful about her participation in next Asiad to be held in Incheon, South Korea in 2014.
