Only Cong can develop J&K equitably: Soz | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Dec 4: President Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC) Prof Saif-ud-Din Soz has said that Congress is the only capable of fulfilling the aspirations of all the people of the State. "Only Congress has the character and will to lead the people”, he said. Addressing a mammoth gathering at a Congress Rally at Basholi tehsil in district Kathua, he cautioned the people against those dividing them on one or another issue, adding "those who are always in the search of issues to create wedge between the people and regions can never be real representatives of the people". He said that Congress is the only party which can keep the country united and give good governance as the party has a rich history behind it. He highlighted role and contribution of Late Indira Gandjhi and Rajiv Gandhi for development of the country. He said that country has touched new heights of development in all prominent sectors under the dynamic leadership of UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi. Prof Soz said that Congress is committed for keeping all the three regions united and take all the people along. He said that BJP stands rejected as it promoted regionalism, communalism and divided people. Today people are joining Congress as they liked its programmes and policies. He asked the party workers and others to gear up for Panchayat and local body elections. He said that Panchayat elections will not be fought on party basis and people should see the credibility of the candidates who can ensure the development of the area. He advised congress ministers to attend people’s problems on priority basis and conduct extensive touring of rural areas to assess the problems of the people and resolve appropriately. Prof Soz said that Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi have opened channels of dialogue and interlocutors have started talks with the people from all the regions and sections. He said gun, stoning and violence will not help in resolving any issue. The political solutions of the State will be easier when there is dialogue process and all the regions of the state are united. Prof Saifuddin Soz said that the Congress party is committed to provide peace and relief to the people and was actively engaged in the service to the masses. Soz also greeted the people on the election of Sonia Gandhi as President Congress for the fourth term. He said that the dream of the UPA Chairperson Gandhi is to develop Jammu and Kashmir as model State. In his address, Bhalla said that coalition Government is committed to provide better infrastructure facilities in every nook and corner of the State. He said that Government was making all out efforts to improve the socio-economic condition of the people. He said that Congress party would work with same commitment and enthusiasm to bring economic and political stability in the State. He said that government has taken up the issue of compensation of Ranjit Sagar affected people with Punjab Government for early settlement. He said demand for setting up of new administrative units in Basholi will be examined on merit basis. Minister said that for proper rehabilitation of displaced persons of 1947, central government has earmarked Rs. 49 crore package adding that the compensation has been distributed among the refugees by conducting public darbars across the state. He said that Government has also enhanced the land deficiency compensation for refugees from Rs. 25000 to Rs.1.25 lakh. Speaking on the occasion, Health Minister Sham Lal Sharma said that government is committed to provide all best possible medicare to the people at their doorsteps. He said that to ease rush in city hospitals, the government has opened scores of PHCs and other health centres in remote and far-off areas of the State. Sham also announced flouriculture Park at Basholi and said work will be started within 10 days. In his address, Chib said that coalition government is fully aware of people’s problems and is making all out efforts to mitigate without any delay by providing all basic amenities at their doorsteps. He said that Government is preparing a comprehensive plan for construction of stadia on avail spaces in every nook and corner of the State by providing all infrastructural facilities to sports lovers. In their address, MLA Indu Pawar, Swaran Lata Bhagat, Kuldeep Verma, Prem Sagar Aziz, Mangat Ram Sharma, Sohaib Lone besides senior Congress leaders Yash Paul Khajuria and Thakur Hari Singh appealed people to strengthen hands of Congress in coming Panchayat and Urban Local Bodies elections.
