DCC resents lowering of ration scale | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Dec 4: District Congress committee (DCC) Udhampur has strongly resented food and supply department’s latest decision to lower ration supply in the rural areas. In a handout issued here today, DCC Udhampur in its routine monthly meeting held at Manik Palace Hall in Mohalla Barian of Udhampur town under the chairmanship of DCC President Bhupinder Singh Pathania and Brij Mohan Sharma strongly recommended that the ongoing scale of 35 kg per family be continued till the maturation of recently sown wheat crop in May-June this year. Meeting noted with anxiety that social welfare department was not disbursing timely widow and old age pensions and there was much hue and cry around the country side on this particular issue. Meeting also took exception to the way MLA Udhampur was getting installed hand pumps outside the houses of his party men and not at needy and thickly populated points. Meeting further demanded that newly rectified BPL lists be kindly got published and displayed in all Tehsil and Block offices and objections allowed from ignored deserving families. Meeting also noted with much concern that electric wiring system in the rural areas looked shattered, hanging and touching the grounds in numberless villages. In the end, meeting endorsed the entering of Suram Chand and Thoru Ram into the party fold. Both the new entrants were garlanded.
