Kashmir: Credentials of the self-styled track-II members | | | NEHA EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Dec 4: Lok Janshakti Party (LJP) president Ram Vilas Paswan and others of his ilk like Shoaib Iqbal of LJP, Gopal Choudary of CPI-M, D Raja of CPI, Namo Nageshwar Rao of Telgu Desham Party, Danish Ali of Janata Dal (Secular), Maheshwar Hazari of Janata Dal (United), Shahid Siddiqui of Rashtriya Lok Dal (RJD), film maker Mahesh Bhatt, journalist Seema Mustafa and Prof Kamal Mitra Chenoy of Jawaharlal Nehru University are right now in Kashmir. They landed in Srinagar on Friday. They have come to Kashmir to meet Mirwaiz Umar Farooq of the APHC (M), Syed Ali Geelani of Tehrik-e-Hurriyat (the), Yasin Malik of JKLF, Shabir Ahmad Shah of Democratic Freedom Party (DFP), Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, People's Democratic Party (PDP) leaders, "civil society" groups and families of those killed after June 11 this year to know what they want and know what could help resolve the so-called Kashmir problem and restore peace in the Valley. They have also said that they would like to meet Kashmiri Hindus as well. The moving force behind the latest intervention in Kashmir is the Delhi-based Centre for Policy Analysis (CPA). Interestingly, the Paswan & Co has rejected the New Delhi-appointed three interlocutors for J&K, saying they are just incompetent to discharge the duties assigned to them by the Government of India. They cannot create peace in Kashmir. "We can create peace in Kashmir," the team leader Paswan has said. "Kashmir is peaceful now. It does not mean that the problem is solved," Paswan has also said, and added "our delegation is not an official one, but we will be meeting common people, youth and political leaders and create an atmosphere of peace." What about D Raja? He has said, "We are here on a fact finding mission and will listen to grief and grievances of people and then convey them to the people of India and also present a report to the government." As for Seema Mustafa, she has said: "We will interact with the politicians from both camps, representatives of youth, women and Kashmiri Pandits during the visit. The group will come up with a report after speaking to all sections of society and submit recommendations for easing the situation and resolution of Kashmir issue. We will build parliamentary and civil society pressure for taking steps needed for building conducive atmosphere in the Valley." What are the credentials of these so-called track-II members? Who are they? Who do they represent? What is their locus standi? They belong to that category of people who have no say whatever. Let us discuss them one by one. Paswan: He is one of the most unpopular persons in Bihar. His party just contested the assembly elections in Bihar in alliance with Lalu Prasad Yadav of Rashatriya Janta Dal (RJD) and could capture just two seats in a house of 243. He had fielded his two real brothers. Both lost the election miserably. He had fielded another close relative of his and he too suffered a humiliating defeat. He himself had lost the last parliamentary election with a huge, huge margin. What is the ideology of Paswan? He flirts with everyone who could help him fulfill his insatiable lust for power and pelf. He subscribes to an ideology that preaches hatred for the country's majority community, promotes fake secularism, pits the Muslims against the Hindus, defends Maoist terrorists, sharpens caste angularities and seeks to forge unity between the Maoists/Naxals and jihadis. He says that he belongs to a very poor family and his heart bleeds for the poor, but he lives in 5-star and 7-star hotels and conducts his election campaign from these hotels. He says he is a democrat of democrats, but promotes only himself and his family members and relatives. He demands votes in the name of the poor but enjoys power and pelf at their cost. He, in fact, is one person whom the people of Bihar hate from the core of their heart and it is he who heads the team of the self-styled track - II members. (To be concluded) |
