| Jan distributes cheques for Rs one lakh each to flood victim families | | | Early Times Report

National Conference unit in Rajouri and Poonch districts today paid rich homage to Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah on the occasion of his 105th birth anniversary whereas cheque for Rs one lakh each were distributed to the kith and kins of the recent flood victims in Poonch by the Member Legislative Assembly Poonch Aijaz Ahmed Jan.
As per reports, National Conference leaders, workers and delagates of Rajouri organized an impressive function here in the Dak Banglow to celebrate 105th birth anniversary of Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah where they paid rich tribute to the leader. The function was presided over by Bashir Wani, District President of the party while General Secretary ans senior NC leader Advocate Sardar Parvez Ahmed was also present on the occasion.
Terming Sheikh as tall leader, Bashir Wani said that his charisma, which galvanized millions of Kashmiris towards independence from the yoke of an autocratic subjugation, has definitely been relegated to the pages of history. He said that over a million mourners, including the president and then prime minister Indira Gandhi, were part of the funeral procession in 1982 when a pall of gloom descended on the Valley because its beloved leader was no more.
Speaking on the occasion, Advocate Parvez Ahmed said that J&K has a saapecial status only because of Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah. He said that present leaders should follow his path for the welfare of the people of this state.
Meanwhile a grand function was organized at Dak Banglow Poonch which was presided over by MLA Poonch Aijaz Ahmed Jan who on the occasion handed over cheque for Rs one lakh each to three families who had lost their bread earner in the recent floods.
Speaking on the occasion, Jan said that Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah has contributed a lot for the welfare of the people of this state and he had given the people a state which has a unique status in the constitution of India. He said that Sheikh Abdullah has been jailed various time for the people and he was a big public figure and will remain eternal in future.
National Conference also organized a function to celebrate 105th birth day of Sheikh Abdullah at Mendher where Javed Rana MLC said that Sher-e-Kashmir Sheikh Abdullah’s important contribution to strengthen the secular ethose of the State will never be forgotton. He said Shiekh was a visionary leader of country and had worked hard for unity and diversity of the State. He said the contribution of late Shiekh in strengthening the high values of secularism and democracy is unparallel and unmatched.
Javed Rana said the best way to remembering Sheikh would be to help marginalsed and suppress class of all the three regions of the state and to work with a missionary zeal to strengthen the bonds of communal harmony, brotherhood and amity. He sought governments attention towards developmental projects.
