Police District Border has made yet another achievement while smashing another interstate contraband racket in Supwal area of Police Sub-Division Samba. This is the second big achievement of Samba Police in this week, after the recovery of 10 quintals of Poppy Straw recently. In a press conference held by Sub-Divisional Police Officer Samba, Dy SP Abrar Chowdhary, at Samba it was briefed that a group of Jammu based narcotic smugglers was trying to smuggle a consignment of heroine to outside the state and sell it in Bombay. Since the receiving party was insisting them to physically come to Bombay, however the clever gang of smugglers was avoiding moving outside the state alongwith the consignment to avoid their interception. In the meantime Samba police received a reliable information regarding the consignment and started developing the information further said the SDPO. Today i.e on 03.04.2006 in the late hours a police party of police sub-division Samba comprising SHO Samba Inspector Varinder Singh and Incharge Police Post Supwal SI Sanjeeve Singh Chib headed by SDPO Samba Dy SP Abrar Chowdhary under the supervision of SSP Boder Sh. Rajinder Gupta laid a trap on the national highway near Badheri in Supwal area and allowed the source to make contact with the smugglers who in order to avoid the public attraction were riding on a simple bike No. JK02U 1627. Police laid a massive cordon of jawans around in the plain clothes and automatic weapons. As soon as the smugglers reached the agreed spot and asked the police source for money in exchange of the contraband consignment, police party headed by SDPO Abrar Chowdhary swung into action and overpowered both the smugglers alongwith the consignment. The contraband recovered contained one Kg of heroine with triple ‘T’ stamp of Afghanistan said the SDPO. Mr. Chowdhary further informed that the two smugglers taken into custody by police included Vidhya Lal S/O Chunni Lal Rajput of Kisdhtwar and Kewal Kumar S/O Saddroo Ram of Billawer district Kathua. The consignment recovered by police is worth crores of rupees in the international market. Police has registered a case under Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act in police station Samba informed the SDPO Samba. Both the smugglers are put to sustained interrogation and police is looking into the various aspects including whether the contraband is not sent by the ultras to raise money for insurgency activities said the SDPO Samba. It is worthwhile to mention that Samba border police has recently unearthed many big rackets including the recovery of 4000 intoxicating capsules, 10 kg RDX and 1000 Kg Bhukki.
