EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU, Dec 5: As part of its Sunday theatre series, the Natrang staged ‘Heer Ka Dukhant’ here today. ‘Heer Ka Dukhant’ an eternal love saga of Heer and Ranjha was presented here in Natrang Studio Theatre in a new dimension. The play has been written by Harsaran Singh and directed by Neeraj Kant. The play not only revealed an unrewarded love story but also presented the complexities of Human Relation and unbridled sea of emotions on the whole. Everyone knows the names of Heer and Ranjha, their love story is very deep and eternal. In the play Heer Ka Dukhant, the same has been unfolded before the audience even with the further instances which occur after the marriage of ‘Heer’ to ‘Saidah’. In the house of her in-laws, Heer is not happy as she can not forget her real love, ‘Ranjha’. She shares her ideas about ‘pure love’ with her sister-in-law, ‘Saheeti’, who instructs her to forget all these emotions and start living a new life practically. Heer’s husband is also apprehensive about the gloomy nature of the newly wed bride, he tries to poke her to get the reality whether she had some amorous relationships with someone, which she declines, he further quests the same from his sister who informs him that in some conversations, ‘Heer’ has admitted her very close friendship with ‘Ranjha’. At this time ‘Ranjha’ enters as ‘Fakir’, he tells some discourses about real love, which Heer & Saheeti do not approve of. Frustrated, jealous and lost, Heer’s husband tells her to go with that ‘Fakir’ if she can live happy after that, which she declines saying that now I can not live with anyone happily and she runs away all alone. Those who acted in the play include Renu Sharma as ‘Heer’, Mohit Sharma as ‘Ranjha’, Neeraj Kant as ‘Saidah’ and Niharika Sharma as ‘Saheeti’. Lights were designed by Rohit Verma. The show was coordinated by Sumeet Sharma.
