Terror module busted, HM recruitment chief Chacha held in Kishtwar | | | early times report JAMMU, Dec 5: Smashing a terror recruitment network, police today arrested Chacha -- chief of Hizbul Mujahideen (HM) recruitment cell -- from the far-flung Pinjrari hamlet of Dachchan in Kishtwar. The terror module, mainly engaged in the recruitment of youth in HM ranks, had surfaced on November 16 last with the arrest of Chacha's associates -- Azhar Ali Bhat (28), son of Gulam Mohammad Bhat of Kijaie, and Irshad Ahmad, son of Gulam Mustafa Akhoon of Lidri, accham. While Azhar worked with Skyline Communications, Kishtwar, as a field distributor for Airtel SIMs, Irshad tought in government primary school at Lidri as a ReT teacher. Fateh Mohammad alias Chacha (60), son of Gulam Mohammad Akhoon of Pinjrari, who had gone underground after the arrest of his two associates last month, was nabbed today, according to SSP, Kishtwar, Dr Haseeb Mughal. The module operated from Kishtwar. Mughal said it was busted on a tip-off which they got on November 16 that one Junaid Akram Malik (17), son of Riyazul Hassan Malik of Bhatindi Morh here, had joined HM. During his sustained questioning, Hassan, originally a resident of angrambata, Kishtwar, told police that Junaid was in close contact with Azhar. When police started making searches for Azhar, they came to know that he had shifted his residence to Asthan Payeen, Kishtwar. Cops then raided his Asthan Payeen residence and arrested him.Azhar told police that he had motivated Junaid to join militancy at the behest of his close friend and HM commander Amir Kamal alias Akram, son of Mohammad Ali Kamal of Kamal Mohalla, Kishtwar. On the directions of Amir, who was active in Dacchan and Marwah areas of Kishtwar, Azhar had visited Jammu twice to convince Junaid to join HM, the SSP added. Azhar's interrogation had led police to the arrest of the other HM sympathiser Irshad. Irshad had received Junaid at the Kishtwar bus stand and managed his night stay in a local hotel and given him an identity card. From the hotel, Irshad next morning took Junaid to Chacha at Pinjrari, Dacchan. From Pinjrari, Chacha had taken Junaid to Amir in the thickly-forested mountains. Mughal said during Irshad's interrogation, police came to know that it was actually Azhar who ran the module as he was the one who had motivated Amir also to join HM in 2008. To bring Junaid from Bhatindi to Kishtwar, money was spent by Amir's family. Out of this money, Azhar had paid Rs 3,500 to a Scorpio driver in whose vehicle Junaid had travelled to Kishtwar. The SSP said after a series of raids in Dachchan and Pinjrari areas, Chacha was finally apprehended by a police team headed by Inspector Zaffar Amin. With the arrest of Chacha and busting of the HM module, the outfit had suffered a major setback to revive its activities in Kishtwar, Mughal added. A case in this regard stands registered under sections 363 and 120-B of RPC, and 13 and 18 of Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act at Kishtwar police station. The investigation of the case was entrusted to Kulbir Singh, additional SP Kishtwar, the SSP said.
