J&K passing through critical phase: PDP President | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Dec 5: Jammu and Kashmir is passing through worst phase of the history with uncertainty and suffering gripping its people with each passing day. Stating this, president of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Mehbooba Mufti said that political problem apart; this unfortunate situation has been thrust on the state by present dispensation which is deeply involved in corruption, nepotism and the maladministration. Mehbooba was addressing one day convention of the district committee members of Jammu urban She said that while the security scenario has deteriorated in the last two years, development component also has suffered tremendously. Citing instances, she said that despite huge water resources, J&K state is facing power crises on account of bad infrastructure and weak networking. Mehbooba Mufti said that the misgoverance has brought state to the verge of economic collapse. PDP president said that the irony is that failures have made government both complacent and arrogant. To sustain this, negative attitude has become the hallmark of those at the helm. Absence of transparency and accountability in the administration speaks volume about government's intention to thrive on miseries of the people, added Mehbooba. Drawing a comparison of present dispensation with earlier coalition, she said that besides transparency, equitable share of resources and better management has brought the state out from the morass. Unfortunately the good work has been undone now, she added. Mehbooba Mufti said that if this drift continues, people of the state will lose faith in democratic means for redressal.
