| Civil Secretariat re-opens today amid Jammu bandh | | | Jammu, Nov 05 : As the Civil Secretariat is re-opening, in view of the annual Darbar Move, here tomorrow after a gap of six months, normal life in the winter capital of the state is all set to get paralyzed in the wake of a call for bandh by various police parties. Call for bandh, given by Pradesh Bhartiya Janta Party and United Refugee Front on separate issues, has been supported by various organizations. Police administration has made elaborate security arrangements in this connection and deployed thick concentration around the civil secretariat and the areas where the Darbar Move employees are putting up. According to Deputy Inspector General of Police, Jammu-Kathua Range, Niaz Mehmood, extra deployment of the Police force is being made in view of the bandh call and the administration was taking all precautionary steps to ensure that no untoward incident may take place on the very first day of re-opening of the Civil Secretariat. The SRTC buses, which shall carry the secretariat employees to the office, are also being provided security cover, he added. The district administration has already imposed restrictions on holding processions and raising provocative slogans near Civil Secretariat as well as Raj Bhavan in Jammu. District Magistrate, Jammu, Hirdesh Kumar Singh, in his order said no procession should be taken out by any individual or group of individuals and no provocative slogans raised in the areas around Civil Secretariat. The order, which came into force from November 3 for a period of two months, would also be applicable to the areas falling within a radius of 200 metres from the outer gates of Raj Bhavan. Director Estates BA Runyal said that all necessary arrangements to accommodate secretariat employees have been made and secretariat building has been given a bridal look to welcome annual Darbar Move. “This time we have accommodated the secretariat employees departmental wise in various government and rented buildings situated within the city limits”, he said. |
