54th death anniversary of Dr. Ambedkar celebrated

JAMMU, Dec 6: Dr. Ambedkar Studies Centre today celebrated 54th death anniversary of Bharat Ratna Babasahib Dr. Bhim Rao Ambedkar at village Bajalta in District Jammu.
Director Dr. Ambedkar Studies Centre Prof. Abha Chauhan while paying tribute to Dr. Ambedkar highlighted his contributions, particularly his struggle for the upliftment of downtrodden sections of the society. She highlighted role of Dr. Ambedkar towards education and in organizing Dalits to fight for their rights. She appreciated his role for getting reservation for SC’s/ST’s.
Chauhan said that Ambedkar was great supporter of Hindu Code Bill which provided women of India right to property. She also talked about the activities of Dr. Ambedkar Studies Centre, University of Jammu and its role in spreading the works and ideology of Dr. Ambedkar in the J&K state.
Sarpanch Rahamat Ali shared his views about needs of the people. He also said how people like Dr. Ambedkar could contribute for development and welfare of downtrodden people in the democratic state like India. He appreciated the efforts of Prof. Abha Chauhan, Director Dr. Ambedkar Studies Centre in arranging such kind of events.
Surinder Singh Manhas the famous Dogri poet and writer made the occasion interesting by presenting his views accompanied by some Dogri poems. Programme began with the floral tributes to Dr. Bhim Rao Ambedkar. Research Assistant Sunil Kumar in his welcome address introduced the speakers to the audience and highlighted the contributions of Babasahib Dr. Bhim Rao Ambedkar. Shweta Sharma Assistant Professor, Department of Sociology presented the formal vote of thanks.
Congress unit of Kathua celebrated 54th birth anniversary of Baba Bhim Rao Ambedkar and remembered his contribution towards Indian society to establish most democratic world famous constitution of India to protect the freedom and all kinds of rights of the Indian people.
On the occasion, District president of PCC and MLC Subash Gupta, Congress leaders Narinder Khajuria, and Bhupinder Singh along with other congress activists paid rich tributes to Baba Bhim Rao Ambedkar. Ex-President Municipal Councils Kathua Naresh Sharma, Gen secretary DCC, District chairman of Seva Dal Ravinder Pal, NSUI state vice president Azad Shatru were also present to pay tributes to Baba Sahib.
BSP activists of district Kathua also organized a programme under the leadership of Som Raj Manjotra, Babu Ram, Yog Raj, Hem Raj, Puran Chand, Kawel Jasrotia, Ashok Singh and Sunil



Meanwhile Akhil Bhartiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) Jammu Mahanagar Unit organized a Seminar on "ROLE OF BABA SAHAB BHIM RAO AMBEDKAR IN SOCIAL UPLIFTMENT" on eve of his 54th death anniversary at Govt.Hr. Sec. School Bahu Fort.
After symposium prizes were also distributed among the participating students. 1st prize was given to Zakir Hussain of Govt.Hr. Sec. School Chhani Himmat, 2nd prize was given to Monika of Govt. Hr. Sec. School Bahu fort, 3rd Prize goes to Nazia Choudhary of Govt. Hr. Sec. School Chhani Himmat & consolation Prizes Were given to Anchal Khokar of Laurel's Basic school Bahu Fort, Tarun Thapa of Laurel's Basic school Bahu Fort, Mehreen of Govt.Hr. Sec. School Bahu Fort & Rini Rani of Laurel's Basic School Bahu Fort.
Addressing the Students Adarsh Bhagat Advocate Jammu High Court who was Chief Guest on the Occasion highlighted the role and teachings of Baba Saheb. He encouraged the students to follow the teaching and practise of the great social reformer and framer of Indian Constitution. He also urged the students to work for the cause of the society and treat all the members of the society equally.
