RAJOURI, Dec 6: Among the total 1091 cases of the poor people processed for the loan scheme under Swarnjayanti Gram Swarozgar Yojana (SGSY) scheme in Rajouri, 500 cases are still pending in various banks of the district.
The information came out in a review meeting on SGSY held under the chairmanship of Minister of State for Power Shabir Ahmed at Dak Banglow Rajouri where the opposition leader Choudhary Zulfikar Ali termed the scheme as total fraud with the poor people.
During the meeting, it was informed to the Minister that among the 1091 cases sent to various banks for disbursement of loan amount to the poor people for running small units in their areas, 500 cases have been kept pending by the Banks without any reason which has turned the scheme almost defunct in Rajouri district.
On the occasion, Block Development Officer Darhal Rajiv Khajuria informed Minister that he had forwarded 36 loan cases to the Bank however only 7 cases were settled and remaining are pending in the bank due to no reason.
Taking strong notice of the non disbursement of loan under SGSY scheme in his area, MLA Darhal Choudhary Zulfikar Ali expressed anguish over the banks and termed the scheme as fraud with the people of his constituency. SGSY scheme has been made to assist the poor families living below the poverty line in rural areas for taking up self employment. The persons taking up self-employment are called ‘Swarozgaris’. They may take up the activity either individually or in groups, called the Self-Help Groups. For successful Self-Employment, it is necessary to take up the right activity. For this purpose, 4 to 5 activities are selected in each Block with the help of officials, non-officials and the bankers. These are called ‘Key Activities’, and should be such that they give the Swarozgaris an income of Rs 2000 per month, net of Bank loan repayment.
