| Woman crushed to death by SRTC tanker | | | JAMMU: A woman was crushed to death by a speeding SRTC tanker at Dogra Chowk here this morning. Puro Devi, wife of Balkar Ram of Uttarvaihni, got down from a minibus at Dogra Chowk in the morning.
While she walked by the roadside towards the stadium entrance to catch a minubus for Talab Tillo, a speeding SRTC tanker (JKD/682) crushed her to death, police sources said. The tanker driver fled the spot soon after the incident. Police evacuated the woman's body to the GMC hospital mortuary. After post-mortem, it was handed over to her family members for last rites.
Police seized the tanker while a hunt was on to nab its driver. A case had been registered against him. |
