Police officers acting as Block Presidents of NC: Khajuria | "Democrcay being crushed in J&K" | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Dec 6: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Ashok Khajuria has accused the National Conference led government of using police to crush democratic movements across Jammu region. "Police officers are acting as block presidents of National Conference. They are strictly going by the dictates of NC leaders which is both unfortunate and against the democratic norms," added Khajuria. He alleged that Chief Minister Omar Abdullah and his coterie of ministers is leaving no stone unturned in crushing peaceful and progressive movements across Jammu region. Khajuria said this after he was allegedly hackled by a police team deputed to prevent the BJP led protestors from reaching civil secretariat. Khajuria maintained that despite having failed to deliver on ground, NC led government is using force to silence voice of dissent. He stressed that strong arm tactics are likely to backfire and government would have to face serious consequences. "The government is using undemocratic means. Use of force has become a matter of routine. Nationalists are being dragged and beaten ruthlessly while the anti-nationals are being served wazwan inside jails and lock-ups," added Khajuria. He warned that if the government would not leave its undemocratic means, BJP would launch a statewide agitation against the government. "Government is creating a situation wherein it would have to face another Amarnath like agitation. Situation is going from Bad to worse. And instead of apologizing to the nation for his anti-national remarks, CM is using force on peacefully agitating protestors of BJP," added Khajuria. Meanwhile, workers of BJP have in a handout issued here alleged that government is trying to eliminate most vociferous BJP leader Ashok Khajuria. "The manner in which police manhandled Ashok Jee clearly shows that government is trying to silence this voice of dissent. But we would not allow the things to drift so much," said a BJP worker. |
