Infra development of rural, far-flung areas priority of govt: Dy CM

JAMMU, Dec 7: Reiterating Government’s, resolve to speed up development through fast track system, Deputy Chief Minister Tara Chand today said that numerous welfare schemes and programmes have been launched to transform development profile of the State. The Deputy Chief Minister was addressing a mammoth rally after meeting of the officers at Khour, here today.
Describing infrastructure development as paramount priority, Tara Chand laid stress on time bound completion of development projects which have been under taken in various sectors. He said government intends to develop Khour as a model block, having all modern facilities available at the block headquarter. He said in order to provide better healthcare facilities to the people of the border block, work on the sub-district headquarter is already apace and on its completion it would be equipped with most modern equipments along with required staff. The Deputy Chief Minister said work on prestigious new Pratap canal project has already started at a cost of Rs. 28 crores. He said the important canal project would be completed in five years to fulfill the irrigation needs of the area.Calling upon unemployed youth of the area to take maximum benefit from the Sher-e-Kashmir Employment Policy, Tara Chand said the comprehensive policy is aimed at encouraging youth to start them own ventures by offering them sops. He said thousands of youth are being given voluntary service allowance under the policy.Stressing on maintaining transparency in various welfare schemes, the Deputy Chief Minister called upon the concerned officers to make sure that beneficiaries under IAY and other social welfare schemes are identified properly and the financial assistance reaches to deserving on time. The meeting was attended by officers of block development department, social welfare department, senior engineers of PWD(R&B), Irrigation & FC and other line departments. Earlier, large number of deputations called on the Deputy Chief Minister and presented charter of demands of their respective areas which include, black topping of link roads of the area, installation of transformers, timely and adequate availability of seeds and fertilizers, disbursement of land compensation, up gradation of schools and placement of requisite staff. Responding to the demands, Tara Chand assured that the genuine demands would be looked into for consideration.
