| Workshop on Applied Statistics concludes | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU, Dec 7: A 4-day long national workshop on Modern Tools in Applied Statistics concluded here today. The workshop was organized by the PG Department of Statistics, University of Jammu.
There were about 80 participants from all parts of the country and a few from foreign countries including South Africa, Indonesia, Iran and Iraq.
The four day deliberations were conducted by experts in the field of Applied Statistics which included experts from Indian Statistical Institutes, IITs, Universities and Industry from India and Abroad.
Prof Varun Shani, Vice Chancellor University of Jammu, was the Chief Guest on the valedictory function.
Prof Varun Shani threw light on the importance of statistics in modern world and said that the department of statistics of Jammu University is an emerging and a progressing department with a great pace.
Speaking on the occasion, Prof J P Singh Joorel, Head, Department of Statistics, University of Jammu gave details of the workshop.
