FIR against BJP activists | Why CM, his ministers go scot free: MLA Khajuria | | SUMIT SHARMA EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Dec 7: The Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP) has reacted sharply over registration of FIR against some of its activists, who took part in a protest demonstration near civil secretariat yesterday. The protest, led by senior BJP leader Ashok Khajuria, was staged against bias attitude of coalition government for Jammu region and Chief Minister Omar Abdullah's controversial statement over accession of Jammu and Kashmir with the Union of India. Today, the police registered a case against BJP activists under different sections of Ranbir Penal Code (RPC) including 353,136,147 and 427 under FIR No 207 at Pacca Danga police station. Police lodged the case on the allegations of attack on police officers on duty, stone pelting, clash with police officers and loss of public property. Meanwhile, in response to FIR MLA Ashok Khajuria talking over phone with Early Times has threatened the government a state wide agitation if any BJP activist is harassed. He alleged that government as usual use police force to curb the voice of people and, instead, demanded FIR against CM, his ministers, Syed Ail Shah Geelani and writer Arundhiti Roy for sedition. It is pertinent to mention here that resentment had been brewing up among BJP cadres ever since Chief Minister Omar Abdullah raised questions on the accession of Jammu and Kashmir in Jammu Kashmir Legislative Assembly. "It is clearly mentioned in Shimla Agreement that India and Pakistan will resolve all outstanding issues, including Kashmir through bilateral talks. Development, employment, road, health care, electricity and water are not going to resolve this issue. It will still be there," the chief minister had said. After the controversial statement, the Assembly witnessed ruckus and clashes broke out between the legislators of National Conference and BJP in the house. In the melee, BJP MLA Durga Das sustained injuries. The protesting BJP MLAs were dragged out of the assembly by marshals. |
