Computer security, entrepreneur development workshops held | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT Jammu, Dec 8: The “World Computer Security” day was celebrated at Model Institute of Engineering & Technology recently by the Department of Information Technology Engineering. A workshop on Information Security and Ethical Hacking was also conducted by Appin Labs for the students on this occasion. Bhavna Arora, Head of IT Department welcomed the guests and highlighted the importance of the event. S. Murthy, officer Incharge DOEACC was the guest of honour on the occasion while Sumeet Gupta, assistant professor, SMVDU was the keynote speaker. Murthy appreciated the efforts put in by the students who had made posters and made collages depicting innovative ideas related to computer security. In the keynote address Sumeet Gupta brought out the nitty gritties of the information security in our day to day life and provided some insights into how some precaution by the individual user can prevent security issues like viruses, trojan wors, phishing attacks, identity thefts, data theft and denial-of-service attacks. S.K.Sharma, principal and Ankur Gupta, joint director, MIET appreciated the efforts of the IT Department in organizing the event and help create awareness on computer security.
