Dr Choudhary to represent India at World Youth Leadership Summit | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Dec 8: Dr. Abdul Rashid Choudhary, State President NSUI J & K, shall be representing India at the 17th World festival of Youth and Students, which is being organised as “ The World Youth Leadership Summit’2010’ mainly focusing on the slogan “ Lets defeat imperialism for a world of peace, solidarity and social transformation.” The prestigious Youth leadership summit is being organised in Johannesburg (South Africa) from the 13th – 21st December 2010 by World Federation of Democratic Youth (WFDY) and its 153 member countries. Sh. Rahul Gandhi General Secretary, Incharge IYC & NSUI on the recommendation of Ms. Meenakashi Natarajan Secretary, Incharge NSUI and Sh. Hibi Hiden National President NSUI, selected Dr. Ab. Rashid Choudhary and only eight others NSUI leaders from across the country to represent India at the summit. Dr Choudhary, a promising youth leader of the state is a conservation biologist by profession and belongs to Gujjar Community, a major tribal and nomadic community of J & K state. His selection among the eight NSUI leaders by Sh. Rahul Gandhi for representing India at such an important youth event in fact is a matter of pride not only for the entire Gujjar community but for the whole State of Jammu & Kashmir and the country. The opportunity which has been provide by Sh. Rahul Gandhi to this promising youth leader of the State, apart from highlighting his hard work and dedication may also prove beneficial in the training, exposure, encouragement and development of a new breed of youth leaders in the state, with a definite vision and commitment for peace, prosperity and development. The World Festival of Youth and Students is the most significant and important youth international event. The World Festival for Youth & Students is organised every four years by the World Federation of Democratic Youth (WFDY) in one of its 153 member countries. It is significant because of the numbers (youth and students delegates) it attracts to conferences from all over the world and important because of the issues it raises and the impact they have in shaping policies of the world and governments of world. The event will be attended by youth and students from member countries as well as Presidents and Ministers from various countries. At the end of the summit, the organizers will expect an outcome wherein the participating youth leaders of the would have benefited immensely from the social, political and economic discussions as well as an intense campaign for universal access to education, campaigns against xenophobia, racism and other related intolerances. The objective of this year’s festival is uniting the youth of the world for peace, solidarity and social transformation to create a world free of human rights abuses and creation of sustainable environments. This nine days long festival has been endorsed and supported by the President of the Republic, Hon. President Jacob Zuma and would be inaugurated by his Excellency in the presence of many other counter parts on December 13, 2010. Dr Rashid expressed his gratitude and thanks to Sh. Rahul Gandhi General Secretary, In charge IYC & NSUI, Ms. Meenakashi Natarajan Secretary, In charge NSUI and to Sh. Hibi Hiden National President NSUI for giving him this prestigious opportunity of representing India at such a huge plate form. He described this opportunity as another stepping stone in the stride of learning and serving to his motherland, India and her people.
