Measures initiated for rehab of KPs: Bhalla | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT Srinagar, December 08: Minister for Revenue, Relief and Rehabilitation, Raman Bhalla, today said that the government has initiated various measures for the rehabilitation of Kashmiri Pandits in the valley. The residential quarters for Kashmiri Pandits have been constructed at Sheikhpora, Budgam, Mattan, Anantnag, Veesu, Qazigund and Hall in Pulwama district for safe and secure accommodation of migrant employees. The minister was speaking at a high level meeting of revenue officers held here. Minister of State for Revenue and Tourism, Nasir Aslam Wani, IGP Kashmir S.M.Sahai, Secretary Revenue, Ejaz Iqbal, Relief Commissioner (M), Vinod Koul, Director School Education, besides all the Deputy Commissioners, Directors of Social Welfare Kashmir and Jammu were also present in the meeting. Bhalla said that the residential quarters would also be constructed at other places adding that a special employment package has been sanctioned for the educated Kashmiri Pandit youth under which 6000 youth would be provided employment opportunities in various government departments. Bhalla said 1706 educated Kashmiri Pandit youth have been provided appointment orders so far. The Minister stressed on filling up of the vacant post in Revenue department through recruitment agencies and DPCs for the smooth functioning of the department. He also disclosed that Rs. 156.79 crore stands released for disbursement among the farmers whose crops have been damaged due to recent hailstorm and rains. He informed that the department has launched an infrastructural development campaign to revamp the revenue infrastructure with construction of office buildings right from patwar Khanas, Niabats offices to SDM & DC office complexes, modern record room, residential quarters, repair and renovation of existing revenue building. He also apprised that under National Land Records Modernization Programme (NLRMP), an action plan has been formulated for lamination and microfilming of the records for its longer life. The Minister said that 628 Pandit youth would be posted in Anantnag 164 in Srinagar, 175 in Baramulla, 201 in Kupwara, 135 in Pulwama, 111 in Budgam, 93 in Shopain, 38 in Ganderbal, 9 in Bandipora and 141 in Kulgam districts. Earlier, Bhalla visited Veerinag in Anantnag and Hall in Pulwama district and took stock of the residential quarters meant for Kashmiri Pandits. He was informed that 63 quarters are under execution in Hall Pulwama of which 34 have been completed. The Minister also visited Shahabad Dooru and inaugurated employment fair where various departments have installed stalls for disseminating the information about various self employment schemes. MLA Dooru, G.A Mir also addressed the gathering on the occasion. The Secretary Revenue Ejaz Iqbal, Deputy Commissioner, Anantnag S.Jaipal Singh, Relief Commissioner Vinod Koul and other officers accompanied the Minister.
