JMC continues drive against adulteration | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Dec 3: Under instructions from S.C. Sawhney, Commissioner, Municipal Corporation, the Health officer along with team of Food Inspectors continued the drive to check the quality of food items. The team inspected about 110 food establishments in the areas of B.C. Road, Hari Market, Raghunath Pura, Prem Nagar, Shahidi Chowk, Indira Chowk, Shalamar Road and Old City. During the inspection, 44 defaulters were booked under the provisions of Prevention of Food Adulteration Act 1954 and J&K Municipal Corporation Act, 2000. An amount of Rs. 12700was charged as fine from the defaulters on spot. The team also destroyed about 90 kgs of stale cooked food, sweets and also meat kept for sale under unhygienic conditions on spot. Besides this, the Municipal Veterinary Officer along with field staff also conducted drive against the adulteration of milk and visited the areas of Satwari, Digiana, Gangyal, Kunjwani, Gujjar Nagar etc. During the drive, 58 milk cans were checked out of which one of milk can which was of sub-standard quality / not fit for human consumption was destroyed and a fine of Rs 1800 were also realized from the erring milk vendors on spot. Continuing the drive to check the menace of stray animals, the team had visited the areas of Panjthirthi, New Plot, Paloura, Roop Nagar, Muthi, Jewel, Talab Tillo, Circular Road, Bahu Fort, Gandhi Nagar, Digiana, Trikuta Nagar etc and lifted 27 stray animals from these areas. The stray animals were impounded in the Municipal Cattle pound and an amount of Rs 3585 was also realized as fine from the owners of stray animals.
