JKWWS organizes awareness programme on female foeticide

Jammu, Dec 9: Jammu and Kashmir women welfare society, organized an awareness programme today here at Block Miran Sahib Tehsil, Jammu.
On the occasion Basant Kumar BMO was the chief guest while Sardar Jasmeet Singh C D P O presided over. Rajni Abrol, lecturer Govt.Girls Higher Secondary School, Miran Sahib was the guest of honor.
Basant Kumar in his address said in view of the present scenario wherein the ratio of the female is decreasing especially in R S Pura, he revealed the data of the Block which has decreased up to 600 females comparably to 1000 males which is very serious and alarming situation.
While appreciating the efforts of JKWWS he said the society has a great contribution especially in the field of women and child development. He also expressed the hope this mission of the society will remain continue.
Sradar Jasmeet Singh CDPO in his address said there may be the few causes and circumstances which compel to the man to do such cruel and brutal crime and this can be exceptional but in majority there is a misuse of medical technology just because of the desire to have the male child only.
Only the drastic law made by the Govt. cannot be successfully bring the result until there is change in the mind set up of the masses of all the classes.
Rajni Abrol said to overcome this social stigma we need to modify the mind set and change the aptitude of the so called social and religious people who have a lot of faith on the old and outdated rituals which has no place in the modern world as this conservative and orthodox approach is the main cause behind this blot and the immoral and unethical practice.
Earlier, Pardeep Singh, representative of the society presented welcomed address and disclosed the aims and objectives of the JKWWS in a details. T R Sharma secretary JKWWS presented vote of thanks.
The programme was attended by the Angarwari and Ashaworkers, students of the Govt. Girls Higher Secondary School, Miran Sahib including members of the civil society and local people of the area
