JMC continues anti-encroachment drive | | |

JAMMU, Dec 9: Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) continued its anti-encroachment drive in and around Jammu city.
In a handout issued here today, it has been stated that under instructions from Commissioner Municipal Corporation Jammu S.C. Sawhney, enforcement staff led by Chief Enforcement Officer (CEO) Satish Khajuria continuing the anti-encroachment drive to clear the footpaths, pavements visited the areas of Gandhi Nagar, Shastri Nagar, Vinayak Bazar and seized the goods / articles like Geysers, Heaters, Counters, Water Purifier, Speakers, Sign Boards, Sanitary Ware Items, Confectionary Items, Paints, Stools, Beds, Racks, Drums and buckets. During the drive, hoardings, banners, sign boards which were installed / displayed unauthorisedly on public places / poles were also seized.
Besides this, the health officer of Jammu Municipal Corporation alongwith team of food inspectors continued drive to check quality of food items and inspected about 200 food establishments. During inspection, 55 defaulters were booked under the provisions of Prevention of Food Adulteration Act 1954 and J&K Municipal Corporation Act, 2000. An amount of Rs. 19200 was charged as fine from the defaulters on spot.
Also, the Municipal Veterinary Officer alongwith field staff conducted drive against the adulteration of milk and visited the areas of Gujjar Nagar, Talab Khatikan, Shahidi Chowk, Jewel area etc. During the drive 126 of milk cans were checked out of which 06 milk cans which were of sub-standard quality were destroyed and a fine of Rs. 4500.00 were also realized from the erring milk vendors on spot.
