| Installation of escalators demanded at Jammu Railway station | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
Jammu Dec 10: Citizen Forum has demanded installation of escalators at Jammu railway station, right from taxi stand to all platforms, for exclusive use of senior citizen, and old aged passengers, who have to face great hardships to climb upon the downstairs, to reach the platforms.
In a letter addressed to Prime Minister, Dr. Man Mohan Singh President Citizen Forum R.K Chadha has drawn his attention to the non-availability of coolies at Jammu railway station, forcing even the old aged passengers to carry the luggage and board the train. The coolies even if found after hard search harasses the Passengers, particularly the elderly ones. Insulation of escalators is the only situation.
Complaining against apathy of Railway Minister, Mamta Banerjee in bringing about any improvement in Jammu Railway station, Chadha has said that with about 1.5 crore passengers traveling between Jammu and other stations, bringing very high revenue to railways, the plight of Jammu station and platforms is totally ignored.
He has also complained that very old and worn out boggies are attached with trains coming to and leaving Jammu.
