Youth congress seeks filling-up of vacancies in SHRC | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Dec 10: Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Youth Congress (JKPYC) organized a meeting of its prominent activists at PCC headquarters on the eve ‘Human Rights Day’. In a handout issued here today, it has been stated that the function was held under the chairmanship of senior Vice-President R. S. Pathania. Function was marked by scintillating and thought-provoking address by R.S. Pathania before youth congress activists. Pathania stole the opportunity to make an appeal to the state government for filling-up vacancies in the Jammu and Kashmir Human Rights Commission which is lying headless since long. He sought vesting of ‘coercive’ powers with the Human Rights Commission in J & K so that hundreds of recommendations made by it after ringside inquiries and cumbersome procedures gathering dust till now are implemented in total letter and spirit. He also sought further effective measures for strengthening the commission and maintaining its independence and efficaciousness – for seeking funds for its proper functioning, it should have an independent mechanism, transferring of staff from Commission should not be without the consent of commission. Congregation was further addressed by Pankaj Chibber, Manjeet Singh Jatt, Sonu Dogra, Z.S. Malik, Shivang Satya Gupta, R. S. Chib, Rajvir Manhas, Amit Manhas, Amit Gandotra, Ajay Jamwal, Mandeep Singh, Ravi Kumar, Varinder Singh, Imtiaz Ahmad, Sudesh Kumar, Vivek Gupta, Manu Jamwal and other Youth Congress leaders also addressed the meeting and shared similar views.
