Sikh council concerned over injustice

JAMMU, Dec 10: United Sikh Council expressed its serious concern over alleged injustice to Sikh community by the government least caring for human rights violations and atrocities on them in the Jammu and Kashmir State.
Strongly lambasting the government while referring to newly released book on Sikh Atrocities Safar-a-Shahdat, Convenor of the Forum Kuldeep Singh said that on June 7, 1984; state police opened unprovoked and indiscriminate firing on peaceful protesters in Amira Kadal against operation blue star resulting in the death of Sikh innocent citizen including four Sikhs.
Kuldeep added that in addition, atrocities were committed on the peace loving Sikh youth at various places of the State and elsewhere. The author of the book, Manmohan Singh disclosed that the book contains 52 chapters along with photographs and has been awarded by Akali Dal UK for its historic research in Jammu and Kashmir.
He further added that United Sikh Council will also make historic research on visit of Guru Sahib. He also demanded ex-gratia relief to the effected families. He also warned the government that if the demands are not met immediately, then the community will be forced to take strict action in this regard. Among others Balwant Singh, Amarjeet Singh, Ranjeet Singh, Ajmeet Singh, Manmohan Singh, Gurmeet Singh, Mohinder ingh, Balbir Singh, Manjeet Singh, Surjit Singh, Iqbal Singh, Kulwant Singh, Prem Singh, Nirmal Singh, Karamjeet Singh and Jagjit Singh were also present on the occasion.
