| International conference on strategic thoughts concludes | | | EARLY TIMES REPORTER JAMMU | NOV 5 The International Conference on strategic thoughts in the New Age Management organized by the Business School, University of Jammu concluded here today. Prof. Davinder Singh, Dean Academic Affairs, University of Jammu, Prof C S Venketaramanam, Director, IMI, New Delhi and Prof. Vipin Gupta and Prof. Lynda Moore, Simmons School of Management, USA, and Prof. Keith Bradly USA were the key dignitaries at the valedictory function. A special symposium on ‘women and Management’ organized in collaboration with Simmons School of Management; Boston, USA was dedicated to Ishwinder Mahajan the faculty of the Business School who died in the tragic Kolkata Rajdhani accident in 2002. Prof. Vipin Gupta, Prof. Lynda Moore and Prof. Poonam Dhawan from University of Jammu were the key panelists during the symposium. The emphasized the growing power of women across the world in key leadership positions. Prof. Vipin Gupta in his presentation said that time has to come to look into the third generation issues related to women and that the women today are growing in an entrepreneurial way and becoming career self agents. They are demonstrating principled leadership where emphasis is on transcendental values and concern for environment. Prof. Lynda Moore shared her research findings of an exhaustive study on ‘Culturally Sensitive Family Business Model Project’ which explored the changing gender paradigms across the world. Prof. Poonam Dhawan persuasively emphasized that it is not the question of Men or Women, but in the new age we have to change our mindsets and view this as our worked in a more holistic way where Men and Women contribute towards the overall development of the society. She said that organizations gender blind and therefore they need to take a conscious approach towards reorienting the way these issues are looked upon. Prof. C S Venketaratnam during his valedictory address briefed about ‘The opportunities for India in the knowledge economy and the management challenges’. He emphasized the advantages of India as compared to the developing and developed nations. Prof Davinder Singh, Dean Academic Affairs was presided over the valedictory function appreciated the culture of research being strengthened in the University. Prof. Keith Bradely highlighted the importance of being connected to the real world to ensure relevant academic research. Prof Keshav Sharma, Director and the Business Scholl presented his view on the road ahead for the Business School. He said that efforts in the areas of corporate networking, academic research consultancy projects student development, alumni relationships shall further be strengthened so as to make the business school as one of the prestigious institutions in the Asia. Prof Neelu Rohmetra Conference Secretary presented the report of the conference during the valedictory presentation.
