| Gurpurav celebrated with gaiety, fervour | | | EARLY TIMES REPORTER JAMMU | NOV 5 The 537th birth anniversary of Guru Nanak Dev was celebrated with great religious fervour and gaiety at various Gurudwaras, here today. The main function was held at Sant Mela Singh Dathani Ashram, Digiana. Where Sikh Sangat and other devotees, irrespective of cast and creed, participated in the function and paid their obeisance. The gathering was addressed by the prominent persons of the community who highlighted the teachings of Guru Nanak. Former minister, Rangil Singh, while addressing the gathering, said that Guru Nanak Sahib had toured entire India and abroad to spread the message of brotherhood and love among the people. Similar function was also held at Gurudwara Sahib Maharani Chand Kour where devotees gathered and recited Gurbani. Local Ragi Jathas and those invited from the neighbouring state of Punjab recited the Gurbani. Since morning devotees visited gurudwara Maharani Chand Kour where a grand Guru ka Langar was also organized. On the occasion various resolutions were passed for the upliftment of Skih community. The speakers also demanded strict action be taken against the persons involved in the beating and trimming of hair of Seva Singh and his son Manmohan Singh of R S Pura recently.
