Equitable development of three regions, priority of Govt:Bhalla | Seeks people cooperation for making model state | | EARLY TIMES REPORT Jammu, Dec 11-Minister for Revenue, Relief and Rehabilitation, Raman Bhalla has said that equitable development of three regions of the state are the priority of the coalition Government adding that people cooperation is imperative in developing every nook and corner of the state on modern lines. This was said by the Minister while addressing a huge gathering at Bashir Gujjar Basti in Belicharana, here today. Bhalla appealed the people not to believe on rumors of those who misled them on their vested interests. He said that central Government headed by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh has provided liberal funding for creating durable assets in the state. He said Government is committed to provide all basic amenities to the people at their doorsteps including drinking water, electricity, health, education and road connectivity. He said that Government is fully aware of problems of displaced families of Kashmir valley, Doda and Rajouri and is making all out efforts to mitigate in a phased manner. He said that ‘it is the duty of coalition Government to provide all infrastructural facilities in the basties of displaced families at par with urban pockets. The Minister said that for speedy development of Gujjars, Bakerwals, SC and Kissan communities’ issues, the Government has constituted separate boards including its vice-chairmen for assessing their hardships. He appealed them to approach the authorities so that their hardships would be resolved on priority basis. The Minister said that Belicharana area is brought under tourist destination adding that Government has earmarked Rs. 110 crore for construction of artificial lake and Rs. 150 crore for double-lane bridge from Bhagwati Nagar to Belicharana adding that the ongoing projects would be completed by 2012 for the benefit of general masses. For construction of Government Primary School building, the Government has sanctioned Rs. 5 lakh for immediate start of work so that the students of the area could not feel any inconvenience. He said that Government also sanctioned Rs. 2.5 crore for construction of mini tube well including laying of water supply pipes in the area, the work is nearing completion. He said that Government is making all out efforts for diversification of pilgrims of Mata Vaishno Devi to other religious places and adventure spots of the region adding that for the purpose the Government has upgraded infrastructure and recreational facilities at tourist spots across the region which include tourist reception centers, wayside facilities and huts have been developed on modern lines along the way to almost all the tourist destinations. Bhalla said that with the development of various tourist attraction spots and face-lifting works carried out during past 23-months of the coalition Government, Jammu city has become a center of attraction for people within and outside the state. He said clean surroundings, well developed roads and green areas created, have greatly added to its attraction. He said that government has sanctioned Rs. 7 crore for development of parks in various localities of Jammu and its peripheries to add to the attraction of tourists in the city of temples. Regarding enhancement of wages of Numberdars and Chowkidars, Bhalla said that a proposal is active consideration with Finance Ministry adding that after receiving consent, the wages would be enhanced.
