12/11/2010 9:13:39 PM
EARLY TIMES REPORT
Jammu, Dec 11: The day and night protest dharna of agitating physiotherapy doctors entered 19th consecutive day today.
Earlier in the day large gathering of all the physiotherapy doctors as well as students joined their counterparts sitting overnight in the harsh weather of cold & dust in front of old Divisional Commissioner’s office , Mubarak Mandi.
It is noteworthy that already more than 50 agitating doctors had fallen ill due to unfavorable condition & stress.
The agitation took a dramatic turn registering entry of a large number of students/unemployed in the protest. This was the after effect of the irresponsible statement made by Medical & Technical Education Minister R.S. Chib that there is no place for physiotherapists & no course is being run by the Government so there is no responsibility of Government to provide job for a physiotherapy doctors from a private college.
It is noteworthy that the private college is semi-aided from J&K government and the latter nominates seats and all admissions through Govt. Board of Professional Entrance Exam.
R.S. Chib cannot escape with such irresponsible statements; he has only forced all the students of the college to join the agitation of the qualified physiotherapy doctors who are fighting for the whole cause of physiotherapy professionals, students and patients, irt was alleged.
Earlier also Sham Lal Sharma , Minister for Health had talked of irrelevant things saying the terms “Out of the way” and other responsible persons even not uttering a word hiding their faces in other irrelevant issues. They are all just inauguration ministers through which they can earn crores of rupees in the black money pockets.

While holding a press conference Vimal Singh Manhas, Pardeep Mahotra, Sonober Nisar Tak, Zinnia Basson took a strong exception to the doings of police department. They pointed that on the world Human Rights day the police grabbed the peacefully demonstrating doctors through their collars of aprons, pulled the hairs of women doctors and slapped them. Human Right organizations should not only make theoretical statements for protection of Human Rights but fight for them on streets with those who are actually fighting for their rights and for public rights.
Spokesmen reaffirmed their demands for jobs, council, reopening of government Physiotherapy College, and opening of Physiotherapy Department at each PHC level. The physiotherapy doctors warned the Govt. that they will just wait for 2 days now till.
