J&K govt must address problems of OBCs on merit | | | Early Times Report RAJOURI, Dec 11: Strongly advocating cause of OBC people in Jammu and Kashmir, Member Parliament Madan Lal Sharma has stressed the need for addressing the outstanding issues of this deprived section of society on merit. Sharma said that OBCs constitute a sizeable population in the State and they should be given all that due to them. Addressing a big rally organized by the OBC people at Rajouri, Sharma lauded the role of OBC people for the development of the State especially in the field of craft and farming activities. This section of the society remained neglected since independence and demanding their dues. Many Committees were constituted to look into their demands, but nothing has come out as yet. He impressed upon the State Government to examine their demands sympathetically and address appropriately, said Sharma. Appreciating the gesture of the Coalition Government for constituting an independent Board for OBC people for their welfare, Sharma hoped that the issues confronted by this distressed class will receive the focused attention for early resolve. He advised Vice-Chairman, OBC Development Board to interact with the community members and gather complete feedback of problems from all regions of the State and suggest measures for their resolve. He said that Board will be reconstituted further and represented by the Members from grass-root level to strengthen the functioning of this apex body. Sharma announced 4 ambulances, one each for PHC, Didasan, PHC, Deri, PHC, Bagla Nadyala and Pahari Hostel Rajouri. He apprised that 9 ambulances have already been provided by him in the district during the current financial year at different places for the convenience of poor people. Vice-Chairman, OBC Development Board, Kuldeep Verma, Vice Chairman, ST, Bashir Naz, Vice-Chairperson, SC, Swarn Lata also addressed the rally and highlighted the problems of the communities.
