e Tourism deptt’s cable car project hanging in balance | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Dec 11: Successive state governments have been claiming since a decade to start Cable Car Project in different circuits to promote tourism in a big manner. But, people who are waiting for those tourism adventures are being kept in dark by the government. In actual, the fate of cable car projects hangs in balance pending clearances from different quarters. The recent in the list is wildlife department. Ropeway project was meant for the remote areas where the road connectivity was not possible. It was also aimed at boosting the tourism. Few months back a plan was approved by state government to set up five ropeway project for different parts of the state. These projects included construction of a ropeway in Mahamaya-Bahufort-Mubarak Mandi in Jammu, ropeway from Boulevard to Shankeracharya, ropeway at Makhdoomi Sahib Shrine both in Srinagar, ropeway at Ashmuquam in Islamabad district and chairlift cable project at Kangdori at Gulmarg and in Patnitop which connects 10 to 15 kilometer of area around it. Jammu and Kashmir State Cable Car Corporation (JKSCCC) was made the nodal agency for these projects.
