| Harsh Dev demands regularization of RET teachers | | | EARLY TIMES REPORTER JAMMU | NOV 5 Expressing his dissatisfaction over the non-regularization of Rehbar-e-Taleem teachers (RET MLA, Harsh Dev Singh, former Education Minister said in press conference, theat the initiative he took in reforming the education sector in the state is being slowing down by the present system. He also said that schools which are working in rural areas are at the verge of closure, due to the non-attention by the government. he said it was earlier decided that RET teachers, who complete five year tenure will be regularized, but even after completing the required term, but even after completing the required term, RET teachers are not being regularized, he added. He further demanded that there area 10,000 vacant posts lying in the education department, but no step has been taken in this regard, beside, no promotions have taken place during the last four years in this sector. How a well qualified teacher with post graduation or degree can survive on this meager salary. A teacher is also considered to be a nation builder, but under these circumstances, he cannot give desired results, he said. Harshdev also demands inclusion of 5 years tenure as RET teachers as service in the service book of regularized RET teachers for their future benefits, conversion of EGS (Education Growth System) centers into Govt Primary Schools after two years, enhancement of pay of RET/Para teachers up to basic salary of general line teacher Earlier on this occasion, Surinder Choudhary state chairman, J&K Regularized /RET teacher forum warned the state Govt to concede to their demands within 20 days otherwise all teachers shall be forced to resort to agitation. Yashpal Kundal, MLA Panther Party was also present on the occasion.
