| Solar lights, vocational center setup under Op Sadbhavana | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU, DECEMBER 12-To spearhead development and welfare activities for the people of Bani & Machhedi under Army’s Operation Sadbhavana project, the Gurj Division installed solar streetlights in the village of tehsil Bani and Billawar.
A vocational training centre in tehsil Billawar was also inaugurated to augment the meagre income of the population. Solar streetlights were installed at a cost of approximately Rs 3 lakh. The installation will benefit local population immensely in terms of providing basic amenities and clean energy.
Commander 168 Infantry Brigade, Brigadier, Hemant Joneja inaugurated the solar streetlights.
The aim of the vocational training centre is to train the women and young girls in stitching and knitting skills. The cost of the project Rs.5 lakh. The VTC will benefit local populace immensely in terms of providing basic amenities and train the women in stitching and knitting.
President, Family Welfare Organization, 168 infantry Brigade, Meenakshi Joneja emphasized that such steps to impart stitching and knitting skills to the women and young girls will definitely improve the living standards and make them self reliant.
