Lt Gen Jaswal on 2-day Kashmir visit | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Dec 12: The northern command GOC-in-C, Lt Gen B S Jaswal is on a two-day visit to Kashmir to review the situation on the Line of Control (LoC). In Srinagar, he was given a detailed account of the prevailing situation on the LoC and in the Kashmir valley. He was told about the attempts being made from across the border by militants to infiltrate into this side from Pakistan occupied Kashmir (PoK) before the passes were closed due to snowfall. Defence sources said Lt Gen Jaswal was told about the measures taken by the border troops to foil such attempts. He was also informed that night and foot patrolling all along the LoC had further been intensified in view of less snowfall this year so far. The GOC was also briefed about the prevailing situation in the Kashmir valley, which witnessed five month turmoil. In Srinagar, he was received by Lt General S A Hasnain, GOC, Chinar Corps. Sources said the GOC-in-C took the opportunity to release a Coffee Table Book titled ‘Shri Amarnath Ji Shrine Yatra’ compiled and published by Counter Insurgency Force (CIF-K). The book was dedicated to the people of Kashmir and all security forces that contribute to make this yatra successful every year.
