New Year party in GMC | Unsolicited MP returns disappointed | | SUMIT SHARMA JAMMU, Dec 12: Former state health minister and Member Parliament Lal Singh was given a dose of his own medicine when junior doctors prevented him from attending New Year party organised by them in the college cafeteria of Government Medical College (GMC) here today. The incident occurred at the entrance of cafeteria where Member Parliament Lal Singh arrived in his cavalcade to attend the New Year Party of junior doctors. He arrived within minutes of Minister for Revenue Raman Bhalla’s exit from the venue. Bhalla had been invited as Chief Guest by the medicos for the party organised by them. And as soon as he left, Lal Singh reached the site. But to his disappointment, Bhalla was prevented by junior doctors from entering inside the cafeteria. “Respected MP, we did not invite you. Kindly make your way”, eye witnesses quoting doctors said. They further said that on being disallowed to enter venue of the New Year party, Lal Singh reacted angrily and tried to force his entry inside cafeteria. Eyewitnesses said that Lal Singh did make a mention of his being an MP and then talked at length about the powers he enjoys as Member Parliament (MP). When contacted, President of Junior Doctors Association Dr. Arshad said that he was unaware whether an invitation had been extended to Lal Singh or not. “When Lal Singh arrived, there was no proper sitting arrangement. It is because of this reason that we advised him against attending the function,” added Dr.Arshad. On the other hand, administration in Government Medical College (GMC) Jammu expressed complete ignorance about the incident. They infact said that they had no idea about the dance party in the campus. MP Lal Singh could not be contacted for his comments. |
