Army PRO transferred over 'controversial' press note issue | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Dec 12: The Northern Command public relation officer (PRO) has been transferred for his fault of issuing a controversial press note on troops withdrawal from Srinagar. Army sources said PRO Lt Col Kochhar, who was appointed in November, was transferred days after he issued a press note that erupted a 'controversy' on troops withdrawal from Srinagar. He was transferred to New Delhi, the sources added. He, on November 30, issued a press note mentioning about chief minister Omar Abdullah's alleged remarks on Armed Forces Special Powers Act (AFSPA) in the backdrop of November 29 encounter between security forces and militants in Srinagar. The army, however, on the same day also issued another handout to the media to consider the PRO's press release as cancelled.On November 1, army commander, Lt Gen B S Jaswal apologised to the chief minister following which another press release related to his apology was issued on November 2.
