JAMMU, Dec 12: Former Union Defence minister and leader of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) legislative party Chaman Lal Gupta has strongly condemned government oppression over Early Times newspaper.
In a statement issued here today, MLA Jammu West Chaman Lal Gupta has said that government should desist from curbing freedom guaranteed by the constitution of India to media. He added that government attitude is dictorial, pathetic and illogical. “I am pained to hear that Early Times is being harassed for speaking truth and unveiling barbaric face of the present dispensation led by Chief Minister Omar Abdullah. I condemn this government attitude,” added Gupta.
He went to the extent of saying that if the government continues to harass Early Times; things are like to go from Bad to Worst. “We would effectively raise the voice against this injustice both within and outside the state. This has to stop at the earliest. Otherwise, we would be compelled to take up the issue with Prime Minister Dr.Manmohan Singh,” added Gupta.
