JSM criticizes government for gagging media | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT Jammu, Dec 13: Jammu State Morcha(JSM) has criticized the state government for putting curb on media print and electronic media. Addressing the meeting of the office bearers of JSM on Monday Prof. Virender Gupa criticised the recent efforts of State Govt. of trying to intimidated and muzzle the Print and Electronic Media to prevent them from highlighting the misdeeds of the present NC-Cong coalition Govt. and presenting a true picture in front of the public at large. Criticizing the move Gupta said, “ NC Congress government, has made sure that no adverse reporting done by the media specially after the 02 members of the State Finance Commission gave dissenting notes and their comments were widely published”. He further said, “ Secular & Nationalistic outlook media is being targeted & it appears that this present coalition Govt. wants the entire media to only tread the separatist line as no action is being taken against the print & electronic media that is publishing & eulogising the Anti – National & Separatist comments & ideas”. The members present in the meeting were also of the opinion that no Govt. has ever been successful in muzzling the press and electronic media & nothing will stop them from reporting the events whether the ruling party liked it or not. Also present in the meeting included H.B.Khajuria, Capt. Anil Gour, General Secretaries Chandra Uday Sharma, Virender Magotra, Surjit Singh, Vijay Sharma and Mukesh Raina.
