Veterinary camp organized by 33 Rashtriya rifles | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT Jammu, Dec 13: A veterinary camp for the benefit of local population in the villages of Dabbar Potha, Gugarote, Mangiote, Dharat and Kheri of Naushera tehsil was organised at panchayat ghar of village Dabbar by 33 Rashtriya rifles alongwith 27 mobile fields veterinary hospital under the aegis of Tithwal brigade from December 09 to 11. Domestic animals form the mainstay of agriculture based economy of this area and therefore well being of these animals directly affects the people of the area. Moreover gujjars and Bakkarwals form a major population of the area and good health of their animals is one of their major concerns. The camp was well received by the locals as medical aid for their cattle was offered at their doorstep. The cattle were attended by an army veterinary doctor from 27 mobile field veterinary hospitals and his staff, who rendered advice in preserving health and prolonging life of the cattle. besides, free medicines were also administered. About 2000 animals including cows / buffaloes, goat, sheep, horses / ponies and poultry benefited from the camp. The locals thanked the army for organising the camp and requested for more frequent conduct of such camps in future, as it also obviates transportation problem of the cattle in need of medical aid.
