Workshop on Applied Statistics organised

Jammu , Dec 13: The Department of Statistics, Govt. M.A.M. College organised a two-day workshop on Applied Statistics, here toda. Jammu.
Prof.(Dr.) Aieet Angral, Principal of the college welcomed the resource persons and advised the students to take part in such type or workshops because such type of activities will give exposure and opportunities to the students to express their talent. Dr R.K.Gupta, Head, Department or statistics introduced the Resource Person and also thanked the principal for his motivation and encouragement for organizing such type of workshops in the department of Statistics for the first time in the history of Statistics department of Govt. M.A.M. College.
To the introductory session, Dr R.K. Gupta make a presentation on statistical methods and said that statistical methods can, be easily applied to the vast range of business challenges across many industries and departments also the main trust of, the workshop as to create awareness and enhance skills and attitudes towards applications or statistical methods and to bring the facts from figures.
In the next session, 10 students made the presentation on the different topics of applied statistics, Gulam Mustafa, Ashfaq Ur Rehman and Raja Sambyal adjusted the first , second and third respectively. Prof Chander Shekhar Gupta, Prof Anju Bala and Prof Shaffu Bhalwal were the judges.
Prof Aijaz Ahmed Hakak, HOD Statistics, Government College for Women, Srinagar presented a presentation on Applied Statistics followed by Prof.(Dr.) H.K.L. Rao, Head, Department of Management and former general Manager, MFL Chennai who said that statistics has indeed become a vital decision making tool in industry, Business, Administration and environment.
Prof. Divya Mahajan, Department of Statistics, presented the vote of thanks and Sahil Ravgotra, a third year student of statistics anchored the programme.
