| Sham's remark popularizing Congress | | | Early Times Report
JAMMU, Dec 13: Congress and Bhartiya Janata Party both oldest and largest political parties in country and state have failed to develop trust among the common people for dispensation of justice in terms of fundamental rights. Including freedom of speech, think and act. Local political parties had left buried tens and hundreds of evidence of breach of trust time to time for power lust ignoring rights of public. Changing loyalties, refuting statements made and violating basic principals of democracy is single line introduction of every politician seemingly now-a-days. In such bizarre situation speaking truth becomes injurious to political health. Glaring example to which is Sham Lal Sharma cabinet minister in Jammu and Kashmir. Sham said it directly what interlocutors and all other commissions suggested time to time indirectly for the last sixty years. Instead of taking his statement as eye opener, people in political circles from state to centre confusingly started raising hue and cry to malign him.
Separatists fighting for Azadi of Kashmir for the last twenty years have out rightly rejected minister's suggested azadi matrix. Significantly, separates with this move had reiterated their stand for azadi of all three regions Jammu, Ladakh and Kashmir, which should be eye opener for several here. Coalition National Conference and other main stream political parties did not hesitate in ridiculing minister for his remark and even Congress leaders of Valley lambasted minister on his statement. At the same time one fails to understand as where were these leaders during the four months unabated agitation in Kashmir.
Barring Bhartiya Janata Party in Jammu more than a dozen of political, social and regional parties had appreciated minister for his statement where as almost all political, regional and separates leaders had ridiculed his statement. On the one hand politicians are not ready to compromise for the integrity of state but on the other they are raising issues which could be disastrous in deepening rift between regions. As by removal of one Congress minister from cabinet has rendered four districts without representation and repeating similar exercise would be enough to ignite brains for agitation. According to the media reports some political, social and regional groups are jointly preparing to launch mass agitation against continuous discrimination.
Whatever the action would be taken by party high command is secondary but one thing is certain that with Sham's statement a week before Congress is getting popularized with every passing day in entire Jammu region. Political experts expressed that overwhelming response from various groups and organizations in favor of minister has evidently made his position strong among people as well in the party fold. Experts are of view that due to lost ground in Kashmir constituency almost by all political parties are now concentrating over Jammu. To which, extreme political stunts are not new as negative politics works more than that of positive in state and country, they added. |
