| Energy conservation week observed | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU, DECEMBER 14: To mark the ‘Energy Conservation Week’ Power Development Department today organized a programme at Presentation Convent School, Gandhi Nagar .
Minister of State for Power, Shabir Ahmad Khan , chief guest on the occasion.
The department also organized essay writing, slogan writing and painting competitions aimed at awakening the students about the importance of energy conservation.
He appreciated the students who participated in today’s competitions and exhibited their tremendous talent in the field which if utilized can do wonders in saving the energy.
Later, the Minister distributed award certificates and prizes among the winner students.
Commissioner/Secretary Power, Asgar Ali threw light on energy conservation and said Power Development Department is taking all required measures for maintain better power scenario in the state.
Saumya Negi of class VIII, Harshita Anand of VII and Parul Uppal of class VII from Presentation Convent School won the first, second and third prizes respectively, in slogan-writing competition, while K.V.I,Gandhi Nagar students Ayush Gupta of class V, Harjeev Kour of VI class and Raghav Magotra of class V won the first, second and third prize in painting. In the senior category, the participants from Women’s College Gandhi Nagar, Neetu of B.A (II) bagged the first prize, Pallavi Sharma of B.A (II) won the second prize and Pragati Sharma of B.A (II) clinched the third prize.
