BJP national leaders chair meetings
12/14/2010 10:35:56 PM
EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU, Dec 14: The Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP) today held a series of meetings in different parts of city in connection with the party’s scheduled December 24 rally to be held at Parade Ground.
A battery of national leaders are visiting city of temples everyday and chairing meetings of state leaders, office bearers, MLAs besides heads of different morchas and cells.
BJP Member of Parliament Prahlad Patel, National Convenor of Morcha and Cells Mohinder Pandey, Pradesh Prabhari O.P. Kohli, along with State President Shamsher Singh Manhas, MLAs Ashok Khajuria and Jugal Kishore took stock of the preparations being made so far to make the rally a grand success. The party leaders were briefed about the modes being adopted to reach the masses and educate them about the significance of December 24 rally of the party.
While addressing the meetings, these leaders said that state leadership as well as national leadership of BJP is seriously concerned over the developments in the state, especially the situation arising out after the utterances of Chief Minister Omar Abdullah over finality of accession of Jammu and Kashmir with the Indian Union. They said that repeated discrimination with Jammu region and decision to rehabilitate the militants are other issues which have been taken seriously by the nationalist people and the BJP. They said that our leaders have laid down their lives from time to time while agitating against such provisions in the constitution which induce a sense of separatism. They said that during the past 63 years the Kashmir-centric government in the state gave step-motherly treatment to Jammu and Ladakh as the people of these regions were taken for granted as the Congress did not utter a single word of opposition against the Kashmir-centric programmes and policies of the successive governments.
The Congress, for the sake of power, compromised on national interests in the state, which encouraged the Kashmiri leaders to make controversial statements and challenge the finality of accession. They said the need of the time is to display unity and convey that the people will not tolerate any more discrimination, dis-respect to the constitution and rehabilitation of the militants.
To achieve the motive of giving a strong message, BJP has decided to expose the dubious character of the state and Central government by organizing a big rally on Decemebr 24 at Parade Ground.
