Cultural Academy’s talent hunt commences | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT SRINAGAR, Dec 14 In order to expose the hidden talent of the rural masses, the Academy of Art, Culture and Languages has initiated a talent hunt programme; the second leg of which commenced at various locations of Kupwara today. “It is a series which aims at exploring and promoting the talent of the rural folk through state sponsorship,” says Academy secretary, Zafar Iqbal Manhas. The programme which commenced at Langate, Reshwari and Handwara areas of Kupwara district saw participation of around 500 students from the entire belt. Speaking on the Occasion Special Officer for Cultural Activities, Farhat Lone said that Academy has launched the talent hunt scheme all over the state under which participants compete in various disciplines which include music, theatre, folk dance, painting and visual arts etc and based on merit prizes are given to the frontrunners. MLA Langate, Engineer Abdul Rashid also spoke on the occasion and congratulated the Academy for organizing such meaningful and purposeful programmes in the far flung areas of the state. The prominent artists who were appointed as judges for different disciplines include Ali Mohammad Nishter for theatre, Naushad Gayoor for visual arts, Rashid Barqi for dance and Farooq Lone for music. Earlier the first leg of the programme concluded at Karnah in which 120 students were given cash prizes ranging from Rs 1000 to Rs 500.
