Farming community bearing brunt of Govt’s wrong policies: PDP | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT Bishnah, 14 December 2010: Charging Omar-led coalition regime with adopting anti-farmers policies, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) today vowed to expose misdeeds and wrong policies adopted by the coalition government in the state. Addressing a meeting of senior party workers at Morchapur village of Bishnah assembly segement, PDP vice president and former Rajya Sabha member Trilok Singh Bajwa has termed the present dispensation headed by Omar Abdullah as anti-farmers. He said that total failure of Omar Abdullah government was evident from the fact that every section of society has been annoyed with the functioning of this regime. He pointed out that the government had promised to provide fertilizers to the farmers but the promises were not fulfilled. He said the farmers have been struggling to get fertilizers and government has been issuing statements and making tall claims. He lambasted the coalition regime for rehabilitating leaders of the ruling parties in Kissan Advisory Board which has been constituted for taking political mileage. He said that businessmen and traders have been accommodated but on ground no step has been taken to minimize the woes of the farmers. He termed formation of Kissan Advisory Board as cruel joke with the farmers. PDP vice president said that casual approach of the government towards woes of the farmers could be gauged from the fact that even after passing of three months, no compensation has been given to the farmers whose crops were damaged due to hailstorms. He reminded that at the time of hailstorm the government had promised that adequate compensation would be given to the farmers but promises remained on papers only. PDP secretary Hussain Ali Wafa, Chatter Saini, K K Sharma, Ajay Sharma, Magar Singh, Ashok Kumar, Ram Dass and others also addressed the meeting.
