DCM hails Army for sponsoring student tours | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, DECEMBER 13: Deputy Chief Minister Tara Chand lauded the role of Army for safeguarding the country’s borders and supporting the civilian population in several developmental and welfare programmes. Interacting with the students of Poonch, returning from army sponsored Bharat Darshan here, the Deputy Chief Minister said that the army is receiving appreciation for their support in creating varied infrastructure in cut off and remote areas. Tara Chand especially mentioned the role of army in extending training of computer education, vocational training and other welfare programmes for upliftment of poor, downtrodden and backward population. On this occasion, Deputy Chief Minister was informed that 40 RR Army established Army Good Will School at a cost of Rs 32 lakh for providing quality education to the students of Poonch district. The students who had proceeded on Sadhbhavana Programme narrated the interesting events and the extra ordinary marvels of the country they have visited. The students thanked 40 RR for providing them this opportunity to learn about various cultures, languages traditions and life style of people living in different States of the country. The students had been drawn from Government Higher Secondary School, Sawjian, Mandi Poonch for Bharat Darshan. MLC, Poonch, Jehangir Mir was also present on the occasion.
